Our Story

The Little Green Cracker Company was inspired by a 2019 Google search for ‘eco Christmas crackers’. I wasn’t impressed: none of the search results seemed very ‘eco’ to me; most crackers seemed to use polyester ribbon and the fact that their paper was recyclable didn’t seem very special. Some companies were avoiding plastic, true; but their gift selection looked like the kind of thing I would chuck in the ‘randoms’ kitchen drawer ... I felt that it was possible to do better and with my years of experience as a cracker manufacturer (okay – 3 years’ experience as my holiday job when I was a student!), I began to figure out what a truly ‘green’ cracker might look like.

And so, in 2020, The Little Green Cracker Company was born. We’ve put our eco and ethical principles at the heart of everything we do – from designing, to printing, to our gift suppliers – we have gone small and local whenever we can. Our materials are both recycled and recyclable wherever possible. Our crackers are a truly plastic-free design – none of that pesky virgin polyester necessary. And our gifts have been selected to spark a bit of joy and, most importantly, to be used!

Fast forward to 2024, and we’ve been stocked by Selfridges, Fenwick, Highgrove, Abel & Cole, English Heritage, and House of Commons amongst many other high-profile retailers. We were shortlisted for the prestigious PEA (People, Environment, Achievement) awards in 2021 and in the same year were Which? Magazine’s Editor’s Choice. In 2024, we’re delighted to welcome The Ashmolean Museum, animal charity, Monkey World, and renowned ceramics designer Deborah Brett of DB Ceramics.

It seems we’ve struck a chord within the market and we’re now busy prepping for an office move and yet another very busy Christmas period. Upscaling at speed has had its challenges – but none that we haven’t been able to overcome while sticking to our core principles.

Wherever you are, whoever you’re with, I wish you all a very merry Christmas – when we get there!

Love, Caro
